Ideas for lightening up a living room with dark brown leather furniture?
Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2010 in home decor | Subscribe
Hi! We recently bought dark brown leather living room furniture and I need ideas for how to use accents and what kind of accent pieces to lighten up the room. The room doesn't get alot of natural light. My walls are painted a sand color. I am more traditional or transitional in my decorating style. Also any online sources for home accent pieces? I also need an online source for decorative pillow covers so I can use my old toss pillows and just put covers on them. Thanks for your help!

Hi!
I would start with simple muslin curtains in natural or an off white or cream. If you can find the curtain panels with a big button on the tabs would be better. Keep curtains open or tied back which will give a more brighter effect and use shades that you can pull at night if you need the privacy. If you are more traditional simple yet elegant is the best way. Try hanging a large mirror as a focal point or use one small wall to hang several small mirrors as a collection. This will reflect light both night and day for a brighter lighter effect. Assecorise with light colored pillows that will blend with brown this should be easy as brown will go pretty much with anything. A mantle full of Iron Stone collection or anything white or off white. Maybe dark candle sticks with white candles.

White walls and some mirrors. White lamp shades.
