how to decorate your apartment?!?

i'm moving out within this year or so, and im guessing that apartments wont let you color the walls--so they will be white!! i'll be almost 20 when i move out and i'm moving in wid my boyfriend.
i want a color scheme that is stylish but something that he wouldn't mind either...something that will pop against the white walls. basically living room and kitchen designs. what should i do?

1] pick your fav color, boyfriend’s fav color, and a third both of you like [ red, blue, green, for example ].
2] do living room in his fav color [ blues ], kitchen in yours [ reds ], and bedrooms in both favorites [ red and blue. Again, just an example ].
3] use greens as accent color in rooms, or for an extra bedroom, etc.
4] bedroom – purchase bedspread or comforter in the red and blue, in a design [ flowers, stripes, etc. ] you really like. Then add pillows to match; or pillows in the blues and reds from bedding. Curtains to match would be great, too.
5] living room – best to buy furniture in a solid, medium tone – neutral that goes with ‘your’ colors, or one color [ ex: blue ].
Then add drapes, maybe a rug, pillows, artwork in different shades of blue, and a little green.
Frame all art in same color/material such as brass/chrome, oak/walnut, colored enamel so you can provide continuity throughout home, and can re-arrange if you wish.
Get lamps, vases or planters, ornaments, candle holders in brass/chrome,or enamels to match room colors.
6] kitchen – use red in curtains, placemats/tablecloth, and any decorative items for counter [ canisters, small appliances, cookie jar, etc. ]
7] use framed photos, flowers/plants, and candles to make rooms look welcoming
Some will let u paint if u promise to paint it white again when u move
check with your landlord. some places will let you paint, as long as you paint it back before you move. you might also be allowed to wallpaper. again, as long as you take it off.
you could also opt for just a boarder going around the ceiling. that lets you have the color, and is very easy to get off.
some apts have that boring builder’s beige look. so opt for one bright color theme. don’t use earth tones, unless they are very contrast to the walls. very dark, or brilliant.
i’ve lived in apts, i hated the lack of decorating you can do. but if your creative, you can come up with alot.
plants will add alot of warmth, and liven up the place.
also area mats if you have hardwood.
good luck!
You can do your kitchen in a tuscany feel with wine bottles an dgrapes etc. then do that with your living room!
you can attach fabric panels on wall very easily to get color with little to no damage using a staple gun or even velcro.its great to do for an accent wall(like behind your bed)and inexpensive too! black and white is always a great combination so start there -then pick a knock out color like lime green or your favorite just be sure it a strong color to give it that stand out quality
Most places will allow you to paint the walls, as long as you paint them when you move out.
Talk to your boyfriend about what colors he likes and would like to be surrounded by.
There are A LOT of ways to paint something "stylish" but all in all its your personal style that will give it more of a home feel, because its you!
I’m not sure what colors you like, but I like warm colors…that make me feel comfortable when I come home from a long day at work, so my living room I have a couple of paintings on the walls, relaxing things..Like a painting of the woods. I also have fake plants around the living room, like ontop of the bookshelf I have some vines. I have candles pretty much everywhere, I love them! My walls aren’t too drastic, biege. But my curtains and all the other natural colors set it off. My curtains are biege with maroon/green flowers on them.
The kitchen is a little more colorful, but basically the same natural feeling when you walk into it.
I can’t tell you how to style your home, because I don’t really know your personality.. But if you’re allowed to paint the walls…expieriment with it, try something not so drastic to start off with and see if you like it, but if you want something more colorful/vibrant..etc , go for it.. You can always paint it again if you don’t like it the first time.
me an my sis made our room into a huge collage. it shows lots of personality and you can rearrange it anytime.
get some sort of portable large flat board maybe lumber to put between the couch and the wall
paint the lumber and adorn it so the landlord cant give you flack about his precious wall
get patterned curtains with no more than 3 colors. 2 colors =usually better
So you can not paint the walls of your apartment …and the color is white..I think you should use the furniture which will pop up from the wall …The furniture should be dark in color..Also you can use some wall decorative accessories . For more details you can visit-http://www.homelivingstyle.com/
